The Rules of the Patriot’s Hill Recreation Club, Inc. (hereinafter the “Club”) are for the protection and benefit of all members and their guests. The Rules were established to ensure the safe and sanitary operation of the Club facilities and grounds.
All persons using the pool and recreation areas do so at their own risk. To ensure safety, order and discipline must be maintained at all times. Parents are required to caution their children to observe Pool Rules and to obey the instructions of the lifeguards. Lifeguards are authorized to immediately suspend Pool privileges of any member or guest failing to comply with these rules. Repeated failure to observe Pool rules may be cause for suspension or cancellation of Club membership by the Board of Directors, as set forth in the Club Bylaws.
Definitions: The following terms are used throughout these Rules as defined below:
Member: Each member of a Member Family whose membership in the Club is in good standing.
Pool Area: includes the main pool and wading pool, recreation areas and equipment, picnic areas, and restrooms.
Guest: an individual or family visiting a member family for a day.
Adult: person age 18 or older.
Swimmers: persons entitled to enter the Pool Area unaccompanied by an adult:
Adult
Children age 13 or older
Children who have reached their 9th birthday (or who have completed third grade), who have passed the basic swimming test and have submitted written parental permission to the lifeguard (see Unaccompanied Minor Policy).
Deep End Test: demonstrated ability to swim two lengths of the pool and to tread water for one minute, to the satisfaction of the lifeguard.
Children under age nine (9) may not enter the Pool area unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, adult guest, or qualified babysitter.
Babysitter:
A qualified babysitter must be age 16 or older (or age 13-15 with a basic Rescue Certificate); and must be specifically authorized by the child’s parent or guardian to accept responsibility for the child in the Pool area. (The member is responsible for ensuring that the babysitter is qualified, and that he or she presents the Basic Rescue Certificate to the lifeguard, where required.)
A babysitter may not sit for more than one family, or for more than two unrelated children.
Babysitters are not considered “guests” for fee purposes but should nevertheless identify themselves to the lifeguard on duty each day.
Pool Rules
All bathers must take a soap shower before entering the pools, especially after each application of suntan oil.
Bathers must be attired in swimming suits, no cut-offs.
Excessively loud, rough, or boisterous conduct, which interferes with the enjoyment of pool members, as well as neighboring property owners, is not permitted in the pool or recreation areas.
Food and drink are not permitted in the pools or on the pool deck.
Glass containers are not permitted in the pools or on the pool deck.
The Club is not responsible for damage to or theft of the personal property of members or their guests. The Club has no facilities for checking valuables; please do not bring valuables to the pool area.
The cost of any damage to Club property, including the pools, recreation equipment, picnic tables, chairs and benches, and landscaped areas will be charged to the responsible member.
No part of the Club premises shall be used for sectarian or political meetings.
The telephone is intended for emergency use only, not for the convenience of members or their guests.
Lifeguards
The lifeguards are on duty to protect and assist Club members and their guests. It is the lifeguards’ responsibility to enforce the Pool rules and to maintain order and discipline at all times. Lifeguards are authorized to use their discretion in matters relating to the safety and conduct of members and their guests. Failure to follow the instructions of the lifeguards may result in suspension of the member or guest from the pool area.
Members and their guests are not permitted to reprimand Pool employees. All complaints about employees should be made by telephone or in writing to the President, VP Administration, and Recording Secretary.
Lifeguards are not permitted to take telephone messages for members or their guests except in an emergency.
Members and their guests are expected not to distract, interfere with, or engage in extended conversations with the lifeguards while they are on duty.
Swimming lessons will be given Monday through Friday during morning hours at no charge to members. The pool is closed to regular swimming during swimming lessons.
The main pool is restricted to adult use for 15 minutes each hour on the hour (e.g. 5 – 5:15 p.m.: Adult Swim only; 5:15 – 6 p.m.: Open Swim for all.)
Use of the pools when closed is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate suspension of all membership privileges by the Board of Directors.
Pets are not permitted in the pool area.
Alcoholic beverages may not be brought upon, or consumed in, Club premises AT ANY TIME.
Persons under the influence of intoxicants will be denied entrance to the pool area. 4. Smoking is not permitted on the pool grounds at any time.
Members should remove their lawn chairs and personal property from the pool area when leaving for the day. Lawn chairs may be stored in the designated storage areas; however, the Club is not responsible for theft or damage.
Radios, tape recorders, CD players, and other amplifying equipment may not be operated at a level which is disturbing to other members, their guests, or which disturbs the peace of abutting neighbors beyond Club property.
Ball playing is not permitted in the pool and deck area unless specifically authorized by the lifeguards.
Entrances and exits must be kept clear at all times to ensure safe and easy access.
Cars must be parked in the designated parking area, or on the street, not on the lawn or sidewalk area.
Bicycles MUST NOT be left on the sidewalk leading to the Pool entrance. Bicycles may be parked in the designated area along the fence or on the lawn.
No unregistered motor vehicles, including motorbikes, minibikes, and trail bikes will be allowed on the Club property.
Children who are nine (9) years old may attend the pool without a parent or guardian provided that they:
Have passed the Basic Swimming Test,
Have provided the head lifeguard with a signed parent permission slip (included in this packet), and;
Have a parent or guardian at home.
While usually not a problem, rowdy behavior can be both dangerous and annoying. Our lifeguards are expected to monitor pool safety and are not expected to deal with behavioral issues out of the pool.
Make sure your children know what to do if they need to unexpectedly return home (i.e., inclement weather).
Please remind your children to pick up their litter! Help keep the pool looking great all summer!
It is the lifeguards’ responsibility to keep the bathrooms neat and fully stocked during their breaks and at the end of the day. Please feel free to politely mention to the guards if a bathroom is in need of some attention.
While guards are on duty, children and members should not have personal conversations with the guards because this can be distracting. CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT ON THE GUARD CHAIRS OR SIT IN FOLDING CHAIRS NEAR THE GUARD CHAIRS. The guards are available during adult swim for conversing.
Members who wish to have a party at the pool need to fill out a Pool Party Form to be turned into the VP of Administration, at least one week before the party. Party forms can be found can be found in this Spring Packet.
